Business Excellence
The Business Excellence service is focused on creating a corporate culture of quality and excellence in every aspect of the business. It starts with developing and inspiring your most valuable capability; your employees. By providing your employees with resources they can use to make themselves more valuable, in an environment where they feel they are part of something important, their productivity and loyalty can be greatly increased. However, just having highly skilled and motivated people without the right processes to help them realize their full potential will result in wasted effort, frustrated talent and will kill their motivation, resulting in losing them. By evolving people and processes, then aligning them with business performance metrics, corporate strategies and vision, Proxcent can evolve your business to a higher level of excellence.

Proxcent will also work with your business leaders, team leaders and project managers to identify the mission critical processes that need to be refined due to insufficient quality output or employee frustration. These initiatives are summarized below.
Excellence in Personal Development:
The best way to provide an opportunity for every employee to be the best they can be is to institute and maintain a strong culture of personal development. First, they must understand what they need to think about everyday to make personal improvement in job execution a consistent habit. It’s the same thing we all should be doing every time we plan our day or start any task. Specifically, we should ask ourselves 2 simple questions…
- I'm I doing, or about to do, the things that are most important in reaching my longer term goals of a project, job or even in life? Or, I'm I just doing what we seems easiest or appears to be most urgent? Is there something more important I should be doing now? If the current task is truly urgent, then am I making time for the important things for later in the day? In short, I'm I Doing the Right Thing (i.e., most important)?
- The next question we should be asking ourselves once we decide what to do is; I'm I doing them in the most effective way possible? I'm I just doing it the way I have done it in the past? Is there a better way to do it? Are there best practices that I can learn from? Are there tools I could use that would make this easier, faster or have higher quality? In short, I'm I Doing things Right (i.e., the most effective way)?
These concepts can be further simplified and ingrained in our thinking if we just think...
Do the Right Things and Do things Right!
Excellence Framework:
Before anyone can break old habits and change the way they think or do things, they must first be highly motivated by realizing the personal benefits of change. Next, they must also be provided the opportunities and tools to make the changes that will lead to new personal growth. In essence, they need a framework they can use to evolve both personally and professionally. The Excellence Framework consists of three employee development programs as follows.
University: The University is a structured training program with an on-line class catalog that everyone can access and sign up for courses. Not only will this ensure employees are aware of, and have access to, employee development training, they will see this as the company being committed to helping them develop the right skillset for their job and their career goals. This program would include classes for leadership, technical, process, quality, customer focus and of course, personal development training. This easy access to a variety of training curriculum will help your team have an Excellent Skillset.
Quality: This would be an online handbook with a variety of tools, templates, examples, etc. so they don’t have far to look when they want to know if they are doing things in the most effective way. This would be a collection of proven best practices and tools for meetings & presentations, process improvement, reporting & metrics, problem solving, data analysis and so on. These method and tools for doing things right will help ensure your team demonstrates Excellent Execution.
Community: Your best employees usually want to feel they are part of something larger than just a job. They want to work for a company that cares about it's people and the community they live in. They want be part of a team that can make a difference. To ensure you have a strong team that cares about other people, whether in the community or at work, you need to provide activities that promote that and show you are a compassionate and community minded company. The Community program is a way to help employees feel good about themselves and each other and will go a long way in building the type of teamwork that produces high quality results. It would include a variety of team building and community activities and also provide various forums for the team to mentor each other at work and beyond. This culture of community and team involvement will ensure your team has an Excellent Attitude.
These three programs together will ensure all employees have the opportunity to be the best they can be with the knowledge needed to execute their job as excellent as possible.
Process Refinement:
Nothing is more frustrating to an innovative and productive employee or team than to see their hard work not result in what they truly envisioned in the beginning of the process. Many times this due to inefficient and/or ineffective processes where the team spends too much time determining who should be doing a particular tasks or having a lot of re-work done due to unclear requirements or responsibilities. Even if they produce the desired end product, quality issues can be very disheartening to the entire team and can tear it apart as they uncover the causes and play the blame game. This is why process effectiveness and quality is just as important to employee satisfaction as it is to customer satisfaction. Proxcent will work with your teams and leadership to ensure processes are both agile and mature enough to enable employees to realize their full potential with the metrics aligned to meet your business goals.
